It was an unproductive day and I felt a little lost. Started to miss the routine and the company of another person. I didn’t have a purpose for the day. I knew I need to look for a new driver but felt embarrassed that I am in this situation, being stranded. Negative thoughts starting to fill my head: “I should have planned better”, “this makes me look stupid”. Yeah, I should have anticipated these situations and lined up more people to drive. In fact, I was in the process of recruiting someone to take over in a couple of weeks but got dealt a surprise. I had communicated my plans to Nicholas since we initially agreed to try it out for a month. Should I have not done that? But I believe in openness. I think I should continue to communicate openly but make some changes. I am hoping to begin building a database of candidates who I can readily bring on board. This is critical to ensure continuity of the run.

Anyways, so that was my mental state when I left the RV at a friend’s place and roamed around Eugene on foot. I felt awkward. I should be running, not walking about. I surfed the net a little at McDonald’s, wondered around the mostly empty downtown streets looking for lunch, then decided that I should watch the Super Bowl. I have been hearing so much hype around the football championship that I ought to check it out while I’m here. I went to a bar at the University of Oregon campus but to my surprise, it was pretty empty. I was told that folks here are not too big on pro football. Who knew?!

I bused back to my friend’s place, watched TV until I felt asleep then crashed at the couch. What a day!:)
